Madan Neupane

Kanchenjunga is more than a destination for me it is a part of the Himalayas I deeply respect and understand. My goal is to share its remote trails, beautiful landscapes, and unique mountain culture through the knowledge and hospitality of local people.

Meet Our Founder — Madan Neupane

From the Himalayan Trails to Building a Local Trekking Company

Madan Neupane, the founder of Kanchenjunga Guides Nepal, has spent more than two decades working in Nepal's trekking and adventure tourism industry. His journey began on the Himalayan trails, where he worked as a trekking porter before progressing to become a professional trekking guide and eventually establishing his own trekking company.

His experience in the mountains was built not only through guiding trekkers but also through years of walking remote trails, staying in mountain villages, working alongside local communities, and understanding the challenges and rewards of trekking in Nepal's less-developed Himalayan regions.

Madan has a particularly strong connection with the Manaslu and Kanchenjunga regions, where remote landscapes, traditional mountain communities, and challenging trails have shaped much of his professional experience. His approach to trekking has always been based on local knowledge, responsible travel, personal service, and genuine relationships with the communities along the trail.

A Journey from Porter to Founder

Madan's career began at the grassroots level of the trekking industry. Working as a porter gave him a firsthand understanding of Himalayan trails and, importantly, of the people who make trekking possible.

He later became a trekking guide, leading travelers through some of Nepal's most spectacular and challenging mountain regions. These years on the trail taught him that successful trekking is not simply about reaching a destination. It is about understanding the mountains, recognizing changing conditions, respecting local culture, supporting the people of the region, and making sure travelers feel safe and cared for throughout their journey.

With this experience, Madan founded Touch The Himalaya Treks & Expedition, a Nepal-based local trekking and expedition company. Over the years, the company has developed extensive experience in trekking across Nepal while maintaining its focus on local guides and direct service.

Why Kanchenjunga Guides Nepal?

Kanchenjunga is one of Nepal's most remote and spectacular trekking destinations. Unlike some of Nepal's better-known trekking areas, the Kanchenjunga region remains relatively quiet, rugged, and deeply connected to traditional Himalayan life.

Madan established Kanchenjunga Guides Nepal to create a destination-focused trekking brand dedicated to this extraordinary region.

The idea is simple: trekkers should experience Kanchenjunga with people who understand the region—not simply as a trekking route, but as a living Himalayan landscape.

Through Kanchenjunga Guides Nepal, Madan aims to connect travelers with experienced local guides, mountain communities, traditional villages, remote trails, and the remarkable landscapes surrounding the world's third-highest mountain.

Local Knowledge Makes the Difference

For Madan, being a local trekking operator means more than knowing the names of villages and mountain passes. It means understanding the character of the trail, the people who live there, the practical realities of trekking in remote areas, and the importance of responsible tourism.

His philosophy is to provide travelers with honest advice, experienced local guidance, personalized service, and carefully planned itineraries rather than simply selling a standard trekking package.

Whether a trekker is visiting Kanchenjunga North Base Camp at Pangpema, South Base Camp at Oktang, or undertaking the complete Kanchenjunga Base Camp journey, the goal remains the same: to create a safe, authentic, and memorable Himalayan experience.

A Commitment to Local Communities

Madan believes trekking should benefit the communities through which travelers pass. Local guides, porters, teahouse owners, transportation providers, and mountain communities are all an important part of Nepal's trekking ecosystem.

Kanchenjunga Guides Nepal therefore aims to promote responsible and community-conscious trekking, while encouraging visitors to respect local traditions, culture, nature, and the fragile Himalayan environment.

Madan's Philosophy

“The Himalayas are not simply a destination for us—they are home. We believe the best way to experience Kanchenjunga is through local knowledge, genuine hospitality, and the trails we know from experience.”

More Than a Trek

For Madan, a journey to Kanchenjunga is about more than reaching a base camp. It is about walking through remote Himalayan landscapes, meeting people whose lives are connected to the mountains, discovering cultures and traditions, and experiencing a part of Nepal that remains beautifully untouched.

With Kanchenjunga Guides Nepal, his vision is to share that experience through the eyes of a local team—combining professional trekking experience with the warmth, knowledge, and hospitality of the Himalayas.

Kanchenjunga is our destination. The mountains are our home. Let us guide you there.
