Trek Overview
The Kanchenjunga North & South Base Camp Trek takes you to both sides of Kanchenjunga (8,586 m), the world's third-highest mountain, on one of Nepal's quietest trails.
From Kathmandu you fly to Bhadrapur and drive to Sekathum. The trail climbs through bamboo and rhododendron forest to Amjilosa, Gyabla and Ghunsa (3,415 m), where you take a rest day to acclimatise. You then follow the Kambachen and Lhonak valleys to Pangpema, the North Base Camp (5,143 m), right below the north face and its glaciers.
Back in Ghunsa, you cross the Sele La passes to Tseram and Ramche, then walk up beside the Yalung Glacier to Oktang, the South Base Camp (about 4,730 m), facing the mountain's south side. The trek finishes through the forests of Tortong and Yamphudin.
On the way you stay in family-run lodges, from Tibetan-influenced Ghunsa to the farming villages of the lower valleys, inside the Kanchenjunga Conservation Area, home to blue sheep and other Himalayan wildlife (sightings are never guaranteed).
Why trek with us: our guides are from the Kanchenjunga region and know every lodge on the route. We arrange the restricted-area, conservation-area and TIMS permits, the Bhadrapur flights and jeeps, and provide one porter for every two trekkers.
Remote Himalayan Trek
This trek takes place in a remote region with limited infrastructure and services.
Experienced Guide Required for Responsible Trekking
Trekkers must be accompanied by a licensed guide as required for the restricted Kanchenjunga area.
We encourage every trekker to respect local culture, protect the environment, and help preserve the pristine Kanchenjunga region.

Amazing Kanchenjunga Trek!
We just came back from the Kanchenjunga North & South Base Camp Trek, organized by Kanchenjunga Guides Nepal, which was an absolutely awesome trip! The trek was quiet, adventurous, and not very busy, and we were surrounded by fantastic mountain views on our 19-day trek. Pasang Sherpa was a knowledgeable, friendly, and very helpful guide, and the entire team was warm and welcoming. The price was quite reasonable for an amazing adventure like this! Would highly recommend to all mountaineering and trekking enthusiasts!

Wonderful Trek with Local Guides
We recently completed the Kanchenjunga trek with Kanchenjunga Guides Nepal, and it was an unforgettable experience from beginning to end. The Kanchenjunga region is incredibly remote and beautiful, with spectacular mountain views, peaceful villages, forests, glaciers, and very few other trekkers. It was exactly the kind of adventure we were looking for. A special thank you to our guide, Kedar, who made the journey even more enjoyable. He was experienced, responsible, friendly, and always attentive to our needs. He knew the trails very well and gave us great support throughout the trek, especially during the more challenging sections. We always felt safe and well looked after. The organization by Kanchenjunga Guides Nepal was also excellent. From transportation and accommodation to meals and the overall trekking arrangements, everything was well managed. We really appreciated the personal attention and the local knowledge of the team. If you are looking for an authentic Himalayan adventure away from the busier trekking routes, we highly recommend Kanchenjunga Guides Nepal. We are very happy that we chose them for our trek and would gladly trek with them again in the future. Thank you to Kedar and the whole Kanchenjunga Guides Nepal team for making our journey so special!

A truly remote adventure
Kanchenjunga was an incredible trekking experience! One of the most special things was how remote and peaceful the trail felt. We encountered only around seven other trekkers along the route, making it feel like a true adventure away from the crowds. Our guide was knowledgeable and supportive, and Kanchenjunga Guides organized everything very well. If you’re looking for untouched nature, breathtaking mountain views, and an authentic Himalayan experience, I highly recommend this trek!
